Partnering with Illinois Environmental Council
Through the Illinois Environmental Council, we are able to share important information for members to participate in filing witness slips either as proponent or opponent of environmental legislation that have state-wide impact.
Accomplishments
We send out nearly weekly Action Alerts for the purpose of asking members to file witness slips on certain legislation. This occurs only when legislators are in session from roughly January through the end of May each year.
IEC has been very accomplished at working with bill sponsors on language with input from relevant communities across the state and pushing through very important legislation that helps make Illinois a better place to live and work for all communities.
Goals
To help keep our members apprised of vital state-wide environmental issues that also affect us locally while giving them the opportunity to participate in the democratic process of voicing their opinion.
