The Recycling Action Team coordinates county-wide recycling drives throughout the year. Our recycling drives support an Illinois statute to recycle electronics, as well as batteries, lightbulbs and textiles.

Our Styrofoam Recycling Program is Returning!

To keep the Defenders’ Styrofoam Recycling Program available to our community, we need your support. Your donations directly fund and manage the collection, processing, and recycling of Styrofoam. We can’t do this without you!

Recycling Drives

The Recycling Action Team joins the McHenry County Department of Health at recycling events all around the County to collect Styrofoam, fluorescent tubes and bulbs, clothing and textiles, and electronics. View the Green Guide for upcoming events in 2025.
