Manage Four Prairies
volunteers through The Defenders are stewards of the prairie restoration projects on The Defenders’ own Dean Street Property, at Triangle Prairie in Woodstock and O’Brien Prairie, also in Woodstock, and at the County Fairgrounds.
Accomplishments
In 2021, stewards for the three prairies were established and workdays and special projects are now organized. The establishment of a pollinator garden and Silver Creek Streambank restoration at Fairgrounds in collaboration with Friends of Hackmatack NWR.
Goals
To bring consistent prairie management practices to these prairies for the sake of soil rejuvenation and building ecosystem health.
