Environmentalism and Food

Duke’s Alehouse and Kitchen is a 3-Star Green Certified Restaurant known for its gourmet comfort foods, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and entrees made with locally sourced and sustainable ingredients. As a restaurant entrepreneur, I am deeply committed to incorporating my passion for the environment and community into our culinary offerings. Duke’s Alehouse and Kitchen has been the proud host of McHenry County Green Drinks since 2009.

The topic of my presentation will be “Environmentalism and Food.” I will discuss the critical issues surrounding America’s food system, which is undeniably facing challenges and significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. I will explore how our dining choices impact the environment and address the question of whether a vegan diet is the most impactful individual action to heal our planet. I will attempt to explain some of the most challenging issues facing our food industry and discuss existing and potential solutions.
