This team helps raise much needed funds for our organization and action team projects. Join us at one of our many events scheduled throughout the year and help make a difference in your community. See our calendar and eNews for more information as each event comes up.

  • Online Silent Auction fundraiser (February into March) – We ask our members and business members for donations of experiences, special items, or gift cards to be sold online through an Auction format.
  • Earth Month local business joint event (April) – Where we try for a restaurant or brewery to partner with for a fun event.
  • Shop N’ Share for plants (May) One of our smaller fundraisers conducted at a local nursery to get your spring planting started or present a plant or bouquet to another plant lover.
  • Summer “Use It Again” Garage Sale – (June or July Annually) – We collect donations of, household items, non-upholstered furniture, toys, tools and other clean items, (but no clothing) which are sold to the public to keep still usable items out of the landfills and encourage reuse and repair.
  • Big Used Book Sale (end of September into October) – We bring in a truck load of gently used books that are then sorted by genre and sold to the public at reduced prices to allow for other readers to love them again before being recycled.
  • Christmas Tree and Baked Goods Sale (Thanksgiving into early December) – Defenders provide all of the home baked goods for sale at Pioneer Tree Farm in McHenry as well as a majority of the volunteers to help customers find the perfect tree in exchange for a portion of the profits. The farm is run by the family of some of our founding board members to support our work.
  • Other fundraising opportunities as they come up or are suggested by members.

We can use your help at the sale too – Don’t wait to SignUp!
