Energy for Everyone
Defenders plans to build a small solar farm through Solar for All on its Dean Street property in Woodstock. This project will offer clean energy through solar for low-middle income households and families throughout McHenry County with Defenders’ members as subscribers as well and Defenders’ office as anchor tenant.
Accomplishments
The project has been accepted through the Solar for All program and project design company is GRNE Solar.
Goals
To break ground in 2023 with pre-ground breaking work to begin in spring of 2022. A restoration prairie project will take place once the solar farm is constructed to establish native plants for pollinators and to offer an educational destination for schools and the general community, including an interpretive trail about clean energy and associated benefits that are a part of the project.
