He is the primary author of their Guide to the Inflation Reduction Act. DESCRIPTION:Every year the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County teams up with the McHenry County Department of Health to put on several recycling events throughout the year. \nAt this event there will be: \nElectronics Recycling \nDocument Shredding \nStyrofoam\, textiles\, light bulbs($)\, batteries($) \n \nElgin Recycling will be accepting the following electronic devices:\n• Televisions & Computer Monitors ($) Credit cards and cash will be accepted onsite.\n• Computers & Small Scale Servers\n• Printers\, FAX Machines and Scanners\n• DVD Players\, DVD Recorders and VCR’s\n• Video Game Consoles\n• Digital Converter Boxes\, Cable and Satellite Receivers\n• Electronic Keyboards\, Electronic Mice and Portable Digital Music Players \nFees for TVs and Monitors:\n$15 for any size LCD monitor\n$25 for all other units up to 20 inches\n$35 for all other units 21 inches and Larger \nIf you are unable to attend one of the collection event dates\, Elgin Recycling has a permanent site at 5114 E Terra Cotta (Route176) in Crystal Lake (Across from Country Side Flower Shop).\nOpen Monday- Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday 8:00am to 1:00pm.\nFor additional information or questions regarding electronics recycling please visit\nElgin Recycling’s website at www.elginrecycling.com or contact them at 847-741-4100.\nElgin Recycling will no longer be accepting any type of batteries at the events\, but will continue to accept them at their Crystal Lake location. \n \nPaper Tiger Document Solutions will have their shred truck onsite to securely shred your sensitive paper documents.\nPlease remember these important tips for quick shredding:\n1. The shredder can only take paper. No CD’s or thumb drives.\n2. Staples and paper clips do not need to be removed.\n3. Binder clips\, three ring binders and the like Need To Be Removed prior to shredding. Please do so before attending the event.\n4. SUMMARY:McHenry County Race to Reduce Waste
DESCRIPTION:Reducing waste is an important task for the environment\, and local businesses can make a big impact by implementing composting programs. To encourage this effort\, the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County are launching the “Race to Reduce Waste” promotion\, which runs from April 20th to May 20th\, 2023. \nDuring this time\, guests who dine at participating restaurants will have the opportunity to win a $100 gift certificate to their favorite business by entering a raffle. The more you dine\, the more chances you have to win! To enter\, simply scan the unique QR code at each restaurant and fill out the form. If you’re having trouble finding the QR code\, just ask your server. \nThe participating restaurants include Crystal Lake Brewing\, Duke’s Alehouse and Kitchen\, Conscious Cup Coffee Roasters (Crystal Lake location only)\, Dunkin’ Donuts Crystal Lake (Crystal Lake location on Route 14 only)\, Julie Ann’s Frozen Custard\, Cantina 52\, AROMA\, and UpRising Bakery and Cafe. Each of these businesses has implemented a composting program for the duration of the promotion\, and they have displayed a supplied sign with their unique QR code in a prominent space within their establishment for guests to use to check in. \nThe first guest to visit all of the participating restaurants within the time frame will win a special gift basket featuring local products and reusable materials. It’s a great way to support local businesses and reduce waste in the community. \nA very special thank you to McHenry County College and Hickory Hall Crystal Lake for signing up for our composting program without participating in the Race to reduce Waste. \nTo participate\, businesses receive training and resources from WasteNot\, and they will be supplied with educational and training materials for their team. Additionally\, the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County will provide signage for employees and customers\, guidance for purchasing certified compostable containers and other products\, press releases about the program and its participants\, and advertising for the businesses to their over 3\,000 followers via email and social media. \nIf your business would like to participate\, it’s not too late to sign up!
