DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate 13 years of McHenry County Green Drinks!\n\n\n\n\nPresentation Overview:\nThe McHenry County Division of Transportation (MCDOT) and City of Woodstock will discuss roundabouts at the September 7 Green Drinks. MCDOT will provide an overview of roundabouts – how to safety navigate them\, their benefits and drawbacks – and discuss several examples that have been built on the County highway system. The City of Woodstock will then talk about their experience designing and building their first roundabout at South-Lake-Madison near the Historic Woodstock Square. They will also discuss why the State of Illinois selected roundabouts\, instead of traditional traffic signals\, as the preferred intersection type for their upcoming IL 47 project in the City.\n\n\nPresentation Team:\nScott Hennings is the Assistant Director for the McHenry County Division of Transportation.\nDarrell Kuntz is the Assistant County Engineer for the McHenry County Division of Transportation.\nChris Tiedt is the City Engineer for the City of Woodstock Department of Public Works.\nChristina Betz is the Pubic Works Director for the City of Woodstock.\n\n\nThis event will be hybrid\, for those who are unable to attend in person. DESCRIPTION:Every year the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County teams up with the McHenry County Department of Health to put on several recycling events throughout the year. \n  \nAt this event there will be: \nElectronics Recycling \nDocument Shredding \nStyrofoam\, textiles\, light bulbs($)\, batteries($) \n  \n \nElgin Recycling will be accepting the following electronic devices:\n• Televisions & Computer Monitors ($) Credit cards and cash will be accepted onsite.\n• Computers & Small Scale Servers\n• Printers\, FAX Machines and Scanners\n• DVD Players\, DVD Recorders and VCR’s\n• Video Game Consoles\n• Digital Converter Boxes\, Cable and Satellite Receivers\n• Electronic Keyboards\, Electronic Mice and Portable Digital Music Players \nFees for TVs and Monitors:\n$15 for any size LCD monitor\n$25 for all other units up to 20 inches\n$35 for all other units 21 inches and Larger \nIf you are unable to attend one of the collection event dates\, Elgin Recycling has a permanent site at 5114 E Terra Cotta (Route176) in Crystal Lake (Across from Country Side Flower Shop).\nOpen Monday- Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday 8:00am to 1:00pm.\nFor additional information or questions regarding electronics recycling please visit\nElgin Recycling’s website at www.elginrecycling.com or contact them at 847-741-4100.\nElgin Recycling will no longer be accepting any type of batteries at the events\, but will continue to accept them at their Crystal Lake location. \n  \n \n  \nPaper Tiger Document Solutions will have their shred truck onsite to securely shred your sensitive paper documents.\nPlease remember these important tips for quick shredding:\n1. The shredder can only take paper. No CD’s or thumb drives.\n2. Staples and paper clips do not need to be removed.\n3. Binder clips\, three ring binders and the like Need To Be Removed prior to shredding. Please do so before attending the event.\n4. SUMMARY:The Environmental Defenders' Annual Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, September 18 (Rain date: Sunday\, September 25) \nMeet at Towne Park\, Algonquin for RT ride \n1PM \n  \nJoin the Environmental Defenders’ Transportation Action Team as they cruise from Towne Park in Algonquin to East Dundee for a taste of local beer at Black and Gray Brewing. This roundtrip is about 12 miles of mostly easy\, flat terrain and includes the Prairie Trail in McHenry County and the Fox River Trail in Kane. On the way\, Defenders’ executive director will talk about points of interest\, including the milelong stretch of trail that has been adopted by our organization through the McHenry County Conservation District’s Adopt-a-Trail program as well as a bald eagle nesting area. Upon return we’ll have a look at new construction on Main Street Algonquin and future plans for a River Walk.

DESCRIPTION:The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County host an annual Big Fall Book Sale September 23- October 8. It will be located at the Algonquin Township Road District Building B Garage. \n  \nThere will be a members-only preview sale Friday\, September 23 6-8pm. If you are not an Environmental Defenders’ member but would like to participate in the pre-sale\, you will be able to join on site at a special membership price of $20 for a year’s membership\, and gain access to the pre-sale. The sale begins Saturday\, September 24 noon-4pm\, and continues running from 10am-4pm through Saturday\, October 8.
