SUMMARY:BMP Talk & Tour: How to Create Successful Pollinator Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Join us to tour a wonderful native pollinator garden that was installed at Johnsburg Junior High School several years ago by students and Small Waters Education.\nSmall Waters Education helps schools and community groups plan\, create\, and maintain native plantings to fit their site conditions. During this tour you’ll learn what it takes to complete a successful garden\, including building community support\, site assessment\, design\, planting and ongoing care. Join us to learn the steps to create a special spot that provides habitat for pollinators and benefits for people\, including healthy outdoor learning spaces.\n\nThe tour will be led by Jack and Judy Speer from Small Waters Education who are regional leaders on native pollinator projects; and Andy Reinhard who will provide the perspective of the teacher who uses the native garden for classes and is responsible for long-term maintenance.\n\nTo register\, please RSVP at https://tinyurl.com/BMPTourSignup or email Scott Kuykendall\, McHenry County Water Resources Specialist at SHKuykendall@mchenrycountyil.gov\n\nThese popular Talk and Tour programs showcase Best Management Practices successfully implemented in McHenry County. The programs are a collaborative effort with the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County and the McHenry County Department of Planning and Development.\nFor more information on how you can help protect McHenry County’s natural resources visit the Defenders website https://mcdef.org/.
