DESCRIPTION:SPEAKER: Carl Edstrom\n\nIn 2012\, a series of encounters with a 95-year-old man in Copenhagen\, Denmark inspired Ole Kassow to rent a bicycle “rickshaw” and offer to take local nursing home residents on rides through the city. The positive reaction to that first ride immediately generated more requests\, and ultimately led to the founding of Cycling Without Age\, a non-profit now operating around the world with more than 2700 chapters\, including one right here in McHenry County.\n\nABOUT THE SPEAKER:\nCarl Edstrom\, a member of the Cycling Without Age – McHenry County steering committee and regular “pilot\,” will talk about the organization and how they use sustainable transportation\, access to nature\, and kindness through conversation to engage with the county’s elderly residents\, lift their spirits\, and provide “the right to wind in their hair.”\n\nSocializing begins at 5pm\, program begins at 6pm.\n\nThis is a hybrid event. Join us! \nThis months event will be ZOOM ONLY. \n \n“Celebrating 30 Years of the Environmental Film Festival” \nSpeaker: Brad Forder\, DCEFF Director of Programming \nThe Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital (DCEFF) is the world’s premier showcase of environmentally themed films since 1993. \nEach March in Washington\, D.C.\, we host the largest environmental film festival in the world\, presenting 100+ films to audiences of more than 20\,000. Collaborating with over 110 partners\, including museums\, embassies\, universities\, and theaters\, the Festival is one of the leading annual cultural events in Washington\, D.C.\, winning the 2017 DC Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Creative Industries. \nDCEFF is a member of the DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative. \nMISSION \nTo advance understanding and stewardship of the environment through the power of film. \nVISION \nA global culture of respect and care for the environment inspired and sustained by the moving image.\nhttps://dceff.org/ \nSPEAKER: \nBrad Forder\, DCEFF Director of Programming \n \nDirector of Programming Brad Forder is responsible for overall programming for DCEFF\, which he joined in 2013. He has worked as the director of photography for various documentary projects\, including Painted City\, which explores the history and significance of the murals of Washington\, D.C.\, as well as preservation issues they face. He has also served as a videographer for local production companies and universities\, as well as at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. \nBrad regularly represents DCEFF in the industry and serves as a panelist or award jury member at other film festivals\, including the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival\, Heartland International Film Festival\, and American Conservation Film Festival.
