Every year the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County teams up with the McHenry County Department of Health to put on several recycling events throughout the year.

At this event there will be:

Electronics Recycling

Document Shredding

Styrofoam, textiles, light bulbs($), batteries($)

Elgin Recycling will be accepting the following electronic devices:
• Televisions & Computer Monitors ($) Credit cards and cash will be accepted onsite.
• Computers & Small Scale Servers
• Printers, FAX Machines and Scanners
• DVD Players, DVD Recorders and VCR’s
• Video Game Consoles
• Digital Converter Boxes, Cable and Satellite Receivers
• Electronic Keyboards, Electronic Mice and Portable Digital Music Players

Fees for TVs and Monitors:
$15 for any size LCD monitor
$25 for all other units up to 20 inches
$35 for all other units 21 inches and Larger

If you are unable to attend one of the collection event dates, Elgin Recycling has a permanent site at 5114 E Terra Cotta (Route176) in Crystal Lake (Across from Country Side Flower Shop).
Open Monday- Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday 8:00am to 1:00pm.

Elgin Recycling will no longer be accepting any type of batteries at the events, but will continue to accept them at their Crystal Lake location.

Paper Tiger Document Solutions will have their shred truck onsite to securely shred your sensitive paper documents.
Please remember these important tips for quick shredding:
1. The shredder can only take paper. No CD’s or thumb drives.
2. Staples and paper clips do not need to be removed.
3. Binder clips, three ring binders and the like Need To Be Removed prior to shredding. Please do so before attending the event.
4. Participants need to take back empty bags or boxes.

The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County will be onsite collecting
Fluorescent tubes and bulbs, and LED bulbs ($0.50-$1.00 each)
Textiles and clothing
Clean Styrofoam
Alkaline Batteries ($1.00 per lb)
