2010 Fox River Rescue – Boone Creek, McHenry
On May 15, 2010, about 40 volunteers helped clean up Boone Creek, a tributary of the Fox River, in McHenry during the annual Fox River Rescue Day sponsored jointly by the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County and the Sierra Club. We pulled 235 pounds of trash, 66 pounds of recyclables, and 133 pounds of salvage from the creek! A grocery cart was returned to Jewel, a road sign returned to the City of McHenry, and a wheelbarrow and drain tile were reclaimed.
