Earth Day Celebration – EDMC co-sponsors the annual event at Prairieview Education Center in collaboration with MCCD. Multiple booths highlight committees’ activities.

It’s Our River Day – We collaborate with the Village of Algonquin to present this annual event on Fox River.

Tabling at events – Environmental information is provided at many local events, including Natural Landscaping Seminar, Garden Fest, Green Living Expo, McHenry County Fair, and music festivals.

Environmental Documentaries – The Defenders’ show several timely documentaries annually at MCC in collaboration with Lou Marchi Total Recycling Institute and the MCC Sustainability Center.

State & Regional Environmental Issues – We collaborate with Illinois Environmental Council and Environmental Law and Policy Center to educate and advocate about broader issues that affect our county. Member Action Alerts are sent out as needed.

Speakers’ Bureau – We are able to supply speakers for civic groups, schools, scouts, etc. on topics ranging from composting to native gardens to recycling, and everything in between. Contact the office.

Environmental Scholarship – In April of each year, the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County offers an Entering College scholarship for $1,000 to an outstanding high school senior planning to pursue a career directly related to environmental science or preservation.
