The "Kilowatt Ours" Road Show
“What would you find if you traced the wires from
your light switch to their energy source?
Mountaintop
removal, childhood asthma, or… hope?” This is the story told by the
documentary Kilowatt Ours, produced in 2007. The hope results
from filmmaker Jeff Barrie’s search for solutions to today’s energy
problems in America’s towns and cities.
The Education Committee has transformed the Full
Moon Theater concept to a “road show”. Members of the committee are
offering to show Kilowatt Ours to organizations, clubs,
and groups.
Presenters will introduce the film, show the
35-minute version of the documentary, and lead a discussion. They ask
groups to have a minimum of 12 people in attendance.
Filmed in the Southeast, the documentary has
segments about power companies, schools, businesses, and everyday people
finding ways to meet energy needs while using conservation and green
power. It includes ways to reduce energy bills while improving the
environment.
If you are part of a group that schedules programs
for their meetings, please suggest Kilowatt Ours for their
consideration. Requests may be directed to the Education Committee at
815-338-0393. No fee is charged for the program, but donations to the
Defenders are always welcome.
