Saturday, April 17, 2010, was a gorgeous day for a celebration - sunny and breezy, and not too chilly. The Defenders and the McHenry County Conservation District presented the annual Earth Day Celebration at Prairieview Education Center, in honor of the 40th anniversary of both Earth Day and of the Defenders!

From performances by Green E –The Environmental Elvis and Off Square Music, to puppet shows, guided nature hikes, and a restoration service project, the day was filled with activities for young and old. Over 20 environmental exhibitors had displays highlighting their organizations and goods.

The Defenders' recycling crew was there again, taking in athletic shoes, household batteries, car batteries, cell phones, polystyrene packaging blocks, fluorescent bulbs, and electronics.
