We are ready to inaugurate a new Citizens Climate Lobby Chapter in McHenry County!
WHEN: The official Group Start is scheduled for Tuesday Evening December 2nd. The meeting will start at 6:00 PM and run until around 8:30.
WHERE: It will take place at the Woodstock Public Library (414 W. Judd St.).
WHO: CCL Staff Member Dick Smith (Madison, Wisconsin) will conduct the introductory meeting and training session. You will learn a lot, not only about CCL but about where we, as a society, are right now in understanding climate change.
Citizens’ Climate Lobby is trying to create the political will for a livable world. CCL proposes that a fee be placed on fossil fuels based on the CO2 content of those fuels. Revenue from that fee would be returned to the public as a monthly dividend to protect households from rising costs associated with the carbon fee.
The Carbon Fee and Dividend policy of CCL is one that climate scientists and economists alike say is the best first-step to reduce the likelihood of catastrophic climate change from global warming.
Dr. James Hansen, our nation’s leading climatologist on global warming, said this about CCL: “If you want to join the fight to save the planet, to save creation for your grandchildren, there is no more effective step you could take than becoming an active member of this group.”
We hope to see you at this meeting of Citizens’ Climate Lobby Tuesday, December 2, at the Woodstock Public Library, at 6 PM.
